I also wear the hat of Humanist minister, ordained by the Humanist Society, of which I was formerly board president. I am available to perform weddings, funerals, child-welcoming ceremonies and so forth. The Humanist Society is a subsidiary of the American Humanist Association, of which I was formerly board vice-president.
I have been the consulting editor of "The Humanist" magazine. I also served on the board of the Church of the Larger Fellowship, Unitarian Universalist, and on the board of Unitarian Universalists for Jewish Awareness. I was the first president of Unitarian Universalists for Polyamory Awareness and serve on the coordinating council of Family Tree . I am the president of my UU congregation, the Unitarian Church of Sharon. I am past president of the Vermont ACLU affiliate and former council co-chair and Freethinker of the Year of the Freedom from Religion Foundation, of which I am no longer a member. I write a regular column for the Secular Organizations for Sobriety International Newsletter, and serve on SOS's advisory council. I serve on the advisory council of the Institute for 21st Century Relationships.
Besides law, Humanism, feminism and civil liberties, I like sailing, contra dancing, horseback riding, music, science fiction and writing (professional articles, prose, fiction, and poetry). My writing has appeared in fifteen different magazines, newsletters and newspapers, including the Vermont Bar Association Journal, Loving More and The Humanist .
